Writing practice for developers.
Draft the commit message and the postmortem cause from a blank line, not from a generated paragraph you tidy up.
Is writing practice useful for developers?
The writing developers do is small but load-bearing: the commit message, the PR description, the incident postmortem, the design-doc paragraph that has to make a trade-off legible to the next person. AI now drafts all of it, and you edit. That changes the workout. Drafting from blank forces you to actually decide what you mean; editing a generated paragraph lets you accept its framing. The deliberate-practice literature values the harder, self-generated rep. The writing Set is blank-line drafting under a constraint.
A writing rep, for developers
A rep gives a one-line bug and its fix and asks for a commit message under fifteen words that says why, not just what. The constraint forces the real work: naming the cause, not restating the diff. It is the moment you would otherwise hand to the AI and lightly edit, done from scratch so the framing decision is yours, the way a clear postmortem root-cause line has to be.

How the habit fits a developers day
Developers use the writing Set as a short after-work or pre-standup rep: draft one tight artifact, a commit line, a PR summary, a one-sentence cause, under a length or tone constraint. It keeps drafting-from-blank in regular use, the act AI replaces every time it offers a first paragraph you would only have edited.
Questions developers ask
- I am an engineer, not a writer. Why practice writing? Because the artifacts that carry your reasoning are writing: commit messages, PR descriptions, postmortems, design docs. When AI drafts them, you stop deciding the framing yourself. The Set is short, constrained, and engineering-flavored, not essays. It keeps the act of saying exactly what you mean in regular use, sized to seven minutes.
- How is the writing Set different from the reasoning Set? Reasoning is choosing and defending an option in your head. Writing is putting a decision into clear, constrained prose, a commit line, a cause statement, a tight summary. One is the judgment; the other is making the judgment legible to a teammate. They read distinctly because the rep is different: decide versus articulate.
- Does it judge my writing or grade it? It is practice, not assessment. The reps give constraints, length, tone, what to include, and the work is producing a draft that meets them from a blank line. There is no score on your prose and no claim it makes you a better writer. It keeps drafting-from-scratch practiced, which is the part AI quietly takes over.

Not brain training. Brain exercise.
Senwitt is a daily brain exercise app, not a brain training program. We do not claim to improve general cognition, prevent cognitive decline, or treat any condition. Independent scientific consensus — the 2014 Stanford Center on Longevity / Max Planck Institute statement signed by 70 neuroscientists, the 2016 Simons et al. review in Psychological Science in the Public Interest, and the FTC's 2016 settlement with Lumos Labs — has concluded that “brain training” claims are not supported by the evidence. Senwitt is built on a different premise: skills you actively practice get sharper; skills you stop practicing fade.
